What does ‘being healthy’ mean to you? This isn’t a trick – there is no wrong answer!
The important part of this equation is context. What is healthy for YOU in YOUR LIFE is not necessarily right for someone else. Flipped around, what your favorite social media influencer or celebrity is doing might not work for you.
I want to encourage you to spend time reflecting on this idea, because it will drive your behaviors & show you where you want to be.
Maybe it’s being able to hike with friends.
Or enjoy outdoor activities without feeling self-conscious.
It could be not fearing certain food groups or eating out at a restaurant.
Or something as simple as being able to run and play with your kids.
Ideally, this should be something we alone decide. Unfortunately, lots of other things can influence it – social media, body image, expectations from family, comments from friends, dieting culture, gender norms, etc, etc. I challenge you to dig deep & explore what would make you happy. .
For me, 'being healthy' is spending time in nature with someone I love. It's being able to enjoy the food I eat without feeling guilty. It's living a long and happy life, filled with fun memories. Absolute certainty is rare in this life. But I can guarantee - when I'm old & grey, sitting in a rocking chair thinking back on my life, I won't remember the size of the jeans I wore or how many pounds I lost.
I will remember those moments when I felt most alive. That's the important stuff.
